ABOUT US
Arista Healthcare Academy
Arista Healthcare Academy was born of the need for more qualified healthcare workers. Our aging population is in great need of in-home care, so our focus is on the Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA).
Our classes are taught by very qualified nurses who are in the Homecare industry and understand the real skills that are needed to achieve excellence in your new field.
CHHA’s are the heart of homecare and provide direct patient care in support of those who need it the most. To become a CHHA you must first complete a course that has been approved by the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Once the course is completed, you then take and must pass a state exam.
The Home Health Aide can work in both private homes under the auspices of a Healthcare Services Agency (home healthcare), Assisted Living Facilities, Adult Daycare Facilities, Group Homes and Hospice Agencies.
Both require the Home Health Aide to act as a liaison between the Registered Nurse or the Licensed Practical Nurse and the client.
Certified Home Health Aide
CHHA’s provide personal care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. CHHA’s spend the most time with clients and are the eyes and ears of the nursing staff as well as the family. In this course the student will be instructed on how to use evaluation and observation to assess and document the patient’s state of health. This is done by using skills like history-taking, as well as physical and social evaluation to help achieve specific and overall goals for their clients. The assessment skills taught in this class also allow the CHHA to identify changes as they occur, whether it be medical, physical, emotional, or mental. As a result, communication skills are an important part of the students’ educational experience. CHHA’s create important connections with clients and their families and therefore help to enhance the client’s quality of life.
